We believe exceptional learning should be available to everyone. Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox, it is a design principle embedded into every layer of our platform, from code to curriculum.

WCAG 2.1 Compliance

We target WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across all web and mobile surfaces, evaluated using the international VPAT template.

WAI-ARIA Implementation

Our interfaces follow the WAI-ARIA specification to ensure rich interactions work correctly with assistive technologies.

Screen Reader Testing

We test against NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS & iOS), and TalkBack for Android to ensure full compatibility.

Accessible Design System

We target WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across all web and mobile surfaces, evaluated using the international VPAT template.

  • 01 Subtitles & closed captions
Many courses include machine-generated subtitles available in multiple languages. Closed captions are available on select courses, and learners can filter search results to find captioned content on both marketplace and Udemy Business.
  • 02 Video player controls
Our video player supports keyboard shortcuts for playback speed, volume, and captioning. All settings are accessible without a mouse, across marketplace and most Udemy Business products.
  • 03 Search & discovery filters
Learners can filter course search results by subtitle and caption availability, making it easier to find content that matches their accessibility needs.
  • 04 Instructor accessibility guidance
We equip instructors with recommendations and best practices for creating inclusive, accessible course content — from visual design to audio clarity.
  • 05 Ongoing audit & research
We partner with accessibility consultants to conduct regular audits of our platform and inform our improvement roadmap. Accessibility is a continuous commitment, not a one-time project.
