Silicon Valley Futures Institute and ICATEQ Partner to Advance Digital Microcredentials and Workforce Development in Querétaro

The Silicon Valley Futures Institute (SVFI) announced a new strategic partnership with the Instituto de Capacitación para el Trabajo del Estado de Querétaro (ICATEQ) to support the digital transformation of workforce education and the adoption of verifiable digital microcredentials across the region.
The agreement was formalized during the Encuentro Industrial Querétaro 2026, bringing together institutions, companies, and key stakeholders committed to strengthening the state’s industrial and talent ecosystem.
At the center of the collaboration is VeriCert, the digital credentialing business unit of the Silicon Valley Futures Institute. Through VeriCert, SVFI is helping educational and workforce-development organizations move beyond traditional certificates toward a new generation of digital, verifiable, and skills-based credentials.
The partnership with ICATEQ reflects SVFI’s broader mission to help regions build the capabilities required for the future of work by connecting education, technology, skills, credentials, and industry needs.

From certificates to verifiable skills
Traditional certificates can confirm that a person completed a learning experience. Microcredentials can go further by providing a digital representation of what a person learned, what competencies they demonstrated, and who verified those achievements.
Through this collaboration, ICATEQ will have access to a digital credentialing ecosystem designed to make learning achievements more visible, portable, and verifiable, creating new opportunities for students, workers, employers, and institutions.
For SVFI, this represents an important step in advancing a regional model in which education does not end with the delivery of training, but continues through the recognition, verification, and portability of skills.
“Our goal at the Futures Institute is not simply to introduce technology into education. It is to help regions build the human capabilities and infrastructure they need for the future,” said the Silicon Valley Futures Institute. “Microcredentials are an important part of that infrastructure because they allow knowledge and skills to become visible, verifiable, and more closely connected to real opportunities.”

Building the talent infrastructure for the future
Querétaro has established itself as one of Mexico’s most dynamic industrial regions, with a growing ecosystem spanning manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, technology, and advanced services.
As industries evolve, however, the ability to identify and validate skills becomes increasingly important.
The SVFI–ICATEQ collaboration seeks to contribute to this transformation by strengthening the digital infrastructure surrounding learning and workforce development.
Rather than viewing credentials simply as evidence of course completion, the initiative promotes a skills-first approach, where credentials can become trusted signals connecting individuals with employers and organizations with qualified talent.
Dr. Olimpia García, Director of Alliances and Market Development for Latin America at VeriCert, represented the Silicon Valley Futures Institute and VeriCert during the formalization of the partnership.
Her participation reflects SVFI’s commitment to building strategic alliances across Latin America that accelerate the adoption of innovative approaches to education, professional development, and skills recognition.
VeriCert: the credentialing infrastructure of SVFI
VeriCert operates as a business unit of the Silicon Valley Futures Institute, extending the Institute’s mission into the credentialing and verification ecosystem.
Through VeriCert, SVFI provides institutions with infrastructure for issuing and verifying digital credentials, enabling learners to carry their achievements digitally while giving employers and other stakeholders mechanisms to verify them.
The platform supports the evolution from traditional paper-based recognition toward digital credentials and microcredentials aligned with the emerging global skills economy.
The partnership with ICATEQ is therefore part of a broader SVFI vision: helping institutions and regions develop future-ready education ecosystems where learning, skills, credentials, and opportunity are digitally connected.
A regional vision for the future of learning
The collaboration with ICATEQ represents another step in the Silicon Valley Futures Institute’s work across Latin America to support institutions seeking to modernize their approach to education and workforce development.
Through strategic partnerships, research, programs, and technology platforms such as VeriCert, SVFI seeks to help regions translate educational goals into measurable skills, recognized competencies, and trusted digital credentials.
The future of education will not only be about what people learn, but also about how effectively their skills can be demonstrated, verified, and connected to opportunity.
The Silicon Valley Futures Institute and ICATEQ are taking a step toward that future in Querétaro.
