Silicon Valley Futures Institute and COECYT Coahuila Partner to Advance STEM Education, Workforce Development, and Innovation

International collaboration will bring KidGeeniers, continuing education, training, and certification initiatives to support the development of future-ready talent in Coahuila, Mexico.
Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico — September 1, 2026 — The Silicon Valley Futures Institute (SVFI) and the Council of Science and Technology of the State of Coahuila (COECYT Coahuila) have formalized a collaboration agreement to advance education, workforce development, science, technology, and innovation across the state.
The agreement establishes a framework for joint initiatives focused on the implementation of KidGeeniers, an innovative STEM and future-skills program designed to introduce children and young learners to science, technology, data, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital skills.
The collaboration will also support the development of training, continuing education, and human-resources certification processes, creating pathways for professionals and specialists to strengthen their capabilities in areas aligned with the evolving demands of the global economy.

Connecting Coahuila with the global innovation ecosystem
For the Silicon Valley Futures Institute, the agreement represents more than an educational collaboration. It is part of SVFI’s broader mission to help regions develop the human capabilities required to navigate technological and economic transformation.
Through partnerships with governments, public institutions, educational organizations, and industry, SVFI works to connect local talent ecosystems with global knowledge, emerging technologies, and future-oriented learning models.
“The future of a region is ultimately built through its people. Our role at the Silicon Valley Futures Institute is to help institutions create the capabilities, learning pathways, and innovation ecosystems that allow talent to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Dr. Daniel Alejandro Gómez González, Director General of the Silicon Valley Futures Institute.
The collaboration with COECYT Coahuila brings this vision directly to the state, combining local institutional leadership with an international perspective on STEM education, digital skills, continuing education, and certification.
Preparing the next generation through KidGeeniers
A central component of the agreement is the implementation of KidGeeniers, SVFI’s future-skills education initiative for children and young learners.
KidGeeniers introduces students to STEM, data, artificial intelligence, digital citizenship, computational thinking, and emerging technologies through age-appropriate, context-based learning experiences.
The program is designed not simply to teach technology, but to develop the mindsets and capabilities needed to participate in the future economy.
By bringing KidGeeniers to Coahuila, SVFI and COECYT seek to contribute to the development of a stronger pipeline of future scientists, engineers, technologists, entrepreneurs, and digitally capable citizens.
From education to recognized capabilities
The agreement also creates opportunities for collaboration in professional training, continuing education, and certification of human resources.
As technology continues to reshape industries and occupations, regions increasingly need mechanisms to identify, develop, and recognize new skills.
SVFI brings expertise in the design of future-oriented educational programs, professional development, microcredentials, and competency-based learning ecosystems.
Through these initiatives, the collaboration seeks to help Coahuila strengthen the connection between learning, skills, certification, employability, and innovation.
A shared commitment to Coahuila’s future
The signing ceremony took place at the COECYT Coahuila facilities in Saltillo, led by Dr. Mario Valdés Garza, Director General of COECYT Coahuila, who opened the event and highlighted the importance of the new collaboration.
Participating on behalf of the Silicon Valley Futures Institute were Dr. Daniel Alejandro Gómez González, Director General of SVFI, who joined virtually, and Dr. Olimpia García Suárez, SVFI’s representative in Saltillo.
Also participating were Dr. Vanessa Martínez Sosa, Coordinator of Scientific Development, and M.E. María de Lourdes Romero Acosta, Coordinator of Outreach and Dissemination, representing COECYT Coahuila.
The agreement reflects a shared vision of using science, technology, education, and innovation as engines for regional development and social well-being.
“We believe that every region has the potential to become a contributor to the global innovation economy when it invests strategically in its people,” added Dr. Gómez González. “Coahuila has an important industrial and scientific ecosystem. Our objective is to help strengthen that ecosystem by developing talent from an early age and creating lifelong pathways for learning and professional growth.”
Building the future, together
The Silicon Valley Futures Institute views its collaboration with COECYT Coahuila as part of a growing international effort to make future-ready education and skills development accessible beyond traditional innovation hubs.
By combining Coahuila’s institutional and industrial strengths with Silicon Valley’s innovation ecosystem, the partnership aims to create new opportunities for students, educators, professionals, and organizations throughout the state.
Together, SVFI and COECYT Coahuila are working toward a future in which science, technology, and human talent become catalysts for sustainable regional development.
The future is not something regions wait for. It is something they build — by investing in their people today.
